The Mesh (& meshU) men look like they’re just about ready to deliver another stellar two-day Web conference.
The fourth Canadian Webapalooza will be held on April 8th and 9th at MaRS in Toronto. Confirmed keynote speakers for this year’s conference are microfinancier Jessica Jackley Flannery and digital marketer Scott Monty. I thought Jason Calacanis, the Silicon Valley serial entrepreneur (a.k.a. Mr. I Don’t Blog Anymore), was going to speak as well – guess not. But I digress.
I’m particularly interested in Ms. Flannery’s perspective on the burgeoning field of microfinance. With credit markets at a standstill, Ms. Flannery’s experience and advice should prove to be unique and more than likely valuable. Presumably, the Web and mobile technology was used to facilitate the transfer of funds during her time in developing countries such as Kenya, where she spent considerable time.
MeshU, the one-day series of workshops on design, development and team management, is the first conference event. It’ll take place on April 6th. This year’s meshU speakers include Chris Wanstrath, Ilya Grigorik and Ryan Singer just to name a few.
Anyway, the whole Mesh shebang will once again be hosted by your merry band of Web heads otherwise known as Mark Evans (consultant, friend and former colleague), Mathew Ingram (Globe and Mail communities editor), cruise czar Stuart MacDonald, lawyer guy Rob Hyndman and small biz Software as a Service pioneer Mike McDerment.
Big ups go to sponsors Microsoft & Edelman for recognizing a great sponsorship opportunity in a down economy.
Given the early Mesh start date and historically strong demand for tickets, I’m guessing entrepreneurs, investors, media and the assorted others that want to attend should snap up tickets soon. Hope to see y’all there!
