Disappearing text messages
The cell phone has evolved rapidly over the past five years.
What was formerly a tool used almost exclusively for the purposes of voice communications is now used by many to send text messages to friends. Even in Canada.
Problem is many text messages sent to people such as myself that have changed phone numbers in recent memory don’t reach their desired destination.
The thought came to mind once I learned friends of mine, such as Renee Mellow, sent several text messages to my previous cell phone number.
I never received the messages clearly though I would have liked to have read them.
It would’ve saved much confusion among friends and possibly hurt feelings too had I received those messages.
So why don’t cell phone service providers in Canada offer a message forwarding service so to speak? I’m able to have my physical mail forwarded from an old mailing address to my current mailing address, so why not text messages?
There is no doubt someone that now owns my old cell phone number who is no doubt tired of reading and managing messages meant for me.
I know I’m tired of handling messages for someone named Nathan who used to have my cell phone number before I took it over two years ago.
Seems like a revenue good opportunity for the providers, so why not offer such a service? Or is it available and I simply don’t know about it?
