Turns out Hotmail hasn’t even been useful to spammers the past two days.
Microsoft’s Web-based e-mail service, which is most useful for collecting unwanted e-mail from Nigerians and people selling prosthetic private parts, apparently has been inaccessible for thousands of users worldwide.
Some Windows Live Messenger and Live Mail users have been without service for two […]

T-Mobile USA reportedly wants to build a new wireless network in Canada, a potential return of sorts for the U.S. provider to the country that it exited four years ago.
The division of Deutsche Telekom would of course first have to find a partner that can secure wireless spectrum in the May auction of airwaves […]

The BlackBerry and iPhone makers are squaring off and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
But there is far too much being made of the competition between Apple and RIM.
If someone dropped onto Earth from another planet and read the latest edition of BusinessWeek, the only conclusion they’d be able to draw […]

Some of Microsoft’s Web-based and IM services were rendered inoperable yesterday, forcing many office workers and friends to (horror of horrors) pick up the phone and talk to one another.
The company’s Hotmail Web-based e-mail, Xbox Live and its Live Messenger instant messaging service were down for much of the day though service seemed to […]

To no one’s surprise, Rogers won’t follow the lead of its U.S. counterparts and offer all-you-can-eat wireless plans.
But that doesn’t mean prices won’t drop over the next two to three years as (an) additional competitor(s) enters the wireless field.
More Canadians will own cell phones at that time making it harder for Bell, Telus and […]

The overwhelming response to my post yesterday about the seemingly endless stream of Apple product launches was surprising to say the least. This here blog/site received 10x its daily average traffic. (Most didn’t stick around to check out my other blog posts on the wireless and consumer markets but the traffic was nonetheless appreciated.) […]

The BlackBerry maker upped its subscriber forecast this morning, a day after some of the company’s popular devices were rendered useless on the East Coast of the U.S. and Canada.
The second BlackBerry blackout in as many weeks casts doubt on the company’s ability to support the two million new customers it expects to […]

It’s a factor Apple has cited as a potential stumbling block to future success.
No, it’s not Microsoft or any of the large cell phone producers. Nor is it Dell or Hewlett-Packard.
Instead, it’s Apple fatigue. I am tired of the dizzying number of product releases and price cuts and assorted other news meant to stoke […]

The inevitable happened yesterday when T-Mobile and AT&T introduced unlimited calling and messaging plans to match those of rival Verizon’s.
Earlier this week, Verizon introduced its own series of unlimited voice and messaging plans that cost US$100 to US$200 a month. T-Mobile and AT&T now offer similar all-you-can-eat plans. (It’s something I admittedly should’ve predicted on […]

God Bless America.
Verizon Wireless, not known for its innovative marketing or sales efforts, is offering a series of unlimited (and we do mean unlimited) wireless calling plans that range from US$99 to US$199 beginning today.
The most appealing of the plans, from the perspective of a Canadian who travels in country and is tired of […]
